Rotorua
Hey!
This year I went overseas with my family. In April we decided to book our flight to New Zealand, some of my close relatives live in New Zealand so we decided to go visit them after such a long time. We missed seeing them and spending time with them, as most of you know being occupied with daily life routines, there is not always enough spare time to go out for a few weeks and take a moment to relax and explore the outdoors, especially go overseas.
It was the perfect opportunity as we had the Easter Break to go overseas and spend the time with my Cousins, Uncles and Aunties. After booking the flight, we counted down to the day of flight out to the beautiful country New Zealand. We packed our bags and check in to Sydney Airport, sat in the flight, watched the beautiful views from our flight windows and as we know it we reached New Zealand.
We stayed over at out Cousin’s place for 6 days; it was a short trip as we all had to go back to work, uni and school, but it was worth it!
Spending the time with our family, we planned a short trip to different outdoor look-out points. One of these locations was the beautiful Blue and Green Lake, located in Rotorua, New Zealand.
Blue and Green Lakes, Rotorua, the traditional Maori names are Lake Tikitapu and Lake Rotokakahi. These two lakes sit side by side and yes, one is Blue and the other is Green. We walked through the forest area, until we reached a certain point where there is a specific rock that you can climb up using a steel ladder; from this rock you can clearly see the Lakes and the amazing separation, the lake is exactly split into two and it is amazing because you don’t see the Lakes blend, there is a clear division, and the colour difference is just spectacular.
I couldn’t get a clear photo of the lakes, as you know mobile camera quality is not the best and you can only view the whole appearance and experience what I’m talking about when you are physically viewing it yourself, but here are a few photos I took while I was there.

There is also a story behind the lakes, The Blue Lake, Lake Tikitapu, has a legend which is very interesting also The Green Lake, Lake Rotokakahi, contributes to the legend behind the reason for the lake’s differences in colours. The legend has been carried out by the Maori tribe for many years, it is very interesting to read upon. When you have spare time, do read the legendary story behind these amazing lakes.
If you are ever thinking of going to New Zealand definitely visit Rotorua and drive out to The Blue Lake and Green Lake location, it is absolutely breath-taking, beautiful and visually pleasing! The Location is amazing, will really relax you, refresh your mind and keeps you occupied, as everywhere you turn and look, there is always something interesting to view.
